Skippy the therapy dog in school
Lesson: PSHE and citizenship
Skippy the 3 legged therapy dog came into school with Mrs Kirkham his owner, he stayed in year 1 for the day on Friday 5th February. It was a real success, the children loved finding out about his breed and his rescue story.
Skippy is a Ratonero Bogeguero Andeluz, basically a spanish Jack Russell, he has come from a rescue centre in Spain called Galgos Del Sol - this is a charity close to Mrs Kirkham's heart (she volunteers over there in the school holidays)
Skippy has lived with Mrs Kirkham and her family for several year and is a calm and well behaved dog, he is ideal for those children, for what ever reason, that need calming, sensory and a little bit of time to unwind and chill.
We have on the website the LCC risk assessment adapted for the needs of our children and staff at BGL.
Here are some of the photograghs to make you smile.
